Beginning Fly Fishing Course:
The course is $150 per person for an 8 hour course; however, I do offer group rates. The course covers basic equipment, knot tying, fish food/proper fly selection, and basic casting casting techniques. The number of students per class is usually between two and four students. Depending on the number of students, the course will typically consist of 3-4 hours of classroom style instruction at Manzanita Outdoor and about 4 hours of hands-on casting instruction at Granite Creek Park. Each student also receives a student handbook that contains information for them to refer back to in the future. During the course students will aquire the basic knowledge and skills to make a beginning in the art of fly fishing. All equipment is provided; however, students are encouraged to bring their own equipment if they so choose. I try to tailor the course to the individual goals of the students as much as possible. For additional information concerning this course, please feel free to contact me.
Private Instruction:
I offer private lessons for students that would prefer one-on-one instruction. I charge an hourly rate for private lessons that I can tailor to each student ($35 for the first hour, and $25 for each additional hour, with a minimum of two hours). This is a perfect way for students that already have a basic knowledge of fly fishing to improve their casting techniques and develop a better understanding about various topics such as fishing strategies for various situations, attaining a drag-free drift, and entomology/proper fly selection. For additional information regarding private instruction and designing a custom lesson plan, feel free to contact me.
